A menu with a lot of possibilities. Endless, actually.

Every project is unique. I know it sounds corny and generic, but the easiest way for you to know how much I will charge for your project is to get in touch with me. Like I said, we can work something out. For starters, I'll tell you that my web design packages generally range from $400 to $1200. Below is an explanation of the services I offer. The number of services you need plus the size of your website will effect the price of the package I'll offer you.

1. Image and Graphic Design

Image and graphic design means that I design and create images for your website using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and things like that. This includes logos, images, and graphic art that make your website look really cool. This is separate from web design because some clients may have images and logos all ready for me to create a web design from, while others may want me to make a website from scratch––image design, website design, and website coding included. Image and graphic design is usually part of a website design package, and I don't normally offer it as a service all by itself.

2. Website Design

This is the basic service that I offer: savvy and simple design for your website. I spend a lot of time on the typography (fonts), layout, and user interface design of your website. I specialize in websites for artists, musicians, and other creative groups and individuals, and I focus on making a site that looks like you or your organization. I love to have my client's input on this part of the process: what kinds of color and fonts do you want for your website? I offer this service by itself and combined with other services. The price will depend on how big and how complicated your website is.

3. HTML and CSS Coding

This involves turning your amazing website design into a reality with HTML and CSS documents. I use HTML documents to create and define the structure of your website, and then use separate CSS documents to display the design, layout, and look of your site. This separation of content and presentation makes it extremely easy to go into a single CSS document and change the entire look of your site, without having to touch the actual content of your site. Generally, HTML and CSS coding goes hand in hand with my website design service, but some clients (especially artists) want to design their own site and then have me code it.

4. Content Management System Integration

Content management systems are software that gets installed on your web server and powers the content of your website. These systems aren't something that your site visitors are going to see, but something that is installed in the back-end of your website so that you can update, upload, and add content to your site using a visual interface. I don't create content management systems, but I integrate them into your website for you. My two favorites are WordPress and Joomla!, but I'm open to other possibilities. They are excellent, free open-source content management systems that will make it possible for you to add content to your site through a visual interface, so you don't have to edit any code (or pay me to).

5. Hosting and Domain Names

As you may or may not know, once you have a website you have to buy a web server and a domain name to actually put it out on the vast Internet. Technically, I don't sell either of those things. However, most hosting sites sell packages for about $60-80 a year, and give you more space than you'll ever need. For small and medium-sized websites, you can pay me $10 a year to host your website on one of my servers. Basically, I buy space from a hosting company and use it to host around 7-9 of my client's sites, and my clients split the cost. That way, you aren't paying for stuff you don't need, and I take care of everything. As far as domain names go, I walk you through the domain name buying process, or I can buy one for you and you can pay me. I generally let clients make their own choices when it comes to hosting and domain names, but if you just want a website and don't want to worry about any of “that,” then I can take care of it for you.

Packages:

Generally, I offer my web design services in packages. We communicate, decide what your project will involve, and I give you a quote. You don't pay me by the hour. I generally ask for 40% before I begin the project, and the remainder upon completion.

Service Contracts:

You can also hire me to be an on-going web manager for your website. If you don't want to mess with updating your site, we can work out a service contract where you would pay me a monthly fee to maintain the site. This can be combined with a web design package as well. If you need addition help after your website is done but don't need an extended service contract, I can help at by-the-hour rates.
